Our Projects
Each program reflects our belief that meeting physical needs is only part of what people need to thrive. We also need opportunities to create, contribute, connect, belong, and be known.

Bread of Life Project
The foundation's flagship outreach program, where meals became relationships, relationships became trust, and trust made everything else possible.
The Bread of Life Project prepares and delivers made-from-scratch meals, fresh bread, and baked goods to individuals and families experiencing need, as well as community organizations serving them.
We believe food can communicate more than nourishment. Taking the time to prepare something for another person is an act of hospitality and human connection—a tangible expression of care, dignity, and the simple message at the heart of all our work: you are worth the time.

Human Voices Archive
Stories change the way we see one another.
The Human Voices Archive collects, preserves, and publishes the life stories of people in recovery.
Through interviews, transcription, editing, anthologies, and public readings, participants become authors of their own experiences while helping communities better understand recovery. These stories also create opportunities for qualitative research into barriers, recovery capital, and common experiences that can inform future services and advocacy.
Every story deserves to be heard. If you're interested in participating in the Human Voices Archive, we'd love to hear from you. Interviews are conducted in person whenever possible and developed collaboratively into a finished written work.
The Common Table Review
A place where overlooked voices are published.
The Common Table Review is our literary and arts journal featuring poetry, essays, memoir, fiction, visual art, and other creative work from a broad range of voices and lived experiences, with particular attention to work that might otherwise go unheard.
We believe the desire to create is fundamental to being human—and that hardship, isolation, or limited access to traditional artistic spaces does not diminish that desire. Our goal is not simply to publish creative work, but to nurture it: creating opportunities for people to see themselves as artists, writers, and contributors to the cultural life of their communities.
We accept submissions during designated reading periods and review all work in accordance with our current submission guidelines.
Community Connections
We aren't meant to do this alone.
No single organization can meet every need. While The Common Table Foundation focuses on hospitality, storytelling, literature, writing, and the arts, we believe those efforts are most meaningful when they exist alongside organizations providing housing, treatment, healthcare, employment, food assistance, transportation, education, legal services, and countless other forms of practical support.
For that reason, we are committed to building relationships with recovery homes, treatment providers, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, businesses, faith communities, artists, educators, and local leaders. Our goal is to develop a broad network of trusted partners so that when someone needs help beyond what we provide, we can help connect them with people who can.
If your organization would like to partner with us, or if you're interested in contributing your time, skills, or resources, we'd love to hear from you.
